Week 28: Eat 2 cups of spinach/lettuce each day this week.
Good afternoon. Luke and I are chilling inside today. We just got done eating a healthy lunch of lemon chicken and wild rice, and I don’t know who liked it more. He was making sounds like a race car while he was eating, and I’m glad he’s using a fork or he may have lost a finger while shoveling that meal in. We both prepared it together, and he seemed to enjoy cooking it just as much.
It’s a rainy Sunday so right now he’s watching the Wiggles while I blog. After I’m done here we’ll both do some weight lifting and calisthenics, and then I’m hoping for a nice nap.
I hope everybody has a great day and watches what they eat (I mean literally because if it’s good, you could lose a digit.)
Later, Barry J.

Week 25: Do at least 15 push-ups each day this week.
Good morning. Luke is lying in bed, and I just got done doing my crunches, push-ups, and weight lifting. We both went to bed pretty early last night due to the fact that neither of us had a nap after yesterday’s excursions. Today should be pretty interesting considering that it’s 7:30 in the morning and I have to be at work at 7:30PM — I can already hear nap time being called at noon.
A women at work asked why I don’t blog about her, and then she proceeded to set the rules if I would ever decided to. Interesting, very interesting. She told me I have to use a fake name for her, so I’ll call her… “Judy”. “Judy” then proceeded to tell me that I can’t say anything about how she constantly, and I mean constantly, comes to me in the E.D.R. and says, “That’s not on your diet, Barry, that’s not on your diet, Barry.” Thanks Judy, I didn’t know I was on a diet. Enjoy your pie.
Do you sense tension? Yeah, me too. It’s just that “Judy” noticed me eating healthy one day and asked what was up, so I gave her a Fit School business card and ever since she became my personal consumption monitor. It’s not like I’m sitting there eating cake or soda. Sheeesh. So if you’re reading this, “Judy” – worry about your side of the street. I’m keeping mine clean. Deal.
I hope everybody has a great day, and do I even have to put a comment here or can you figure it out?
Later,
Barry J

Week 18: Do at least 10 push-ups each day this week.
Good morning. I just picked up Luke and he’s a little fussy, to say the least. We were sitting down having some blueberries, or as he calls them blue birdies — and in this case that would be more accurate because they were a flying across the breakfast table. He still doesn’t have much of an appetite, but he has plenty of attitude, which is good. I can tell he’s not firing on all eight cylinders (my boy is an American car), but he definitely has more sparkle and shine in his eyes than he has in the past few days.
How am I feeling, you ask? My nose is clogged up like the Lincoln Tunnel at five in the afternoon on a Friday, but besides that I’m A-O.K.
Getting back to Luke’s fit. It’s funny to think about all the different stages we go through in life and have no idea we’re going through them at the time. I really do believe life is just a bunch of moments and that by the time you reflect on them they’re either distorted into the way you want to remember them or they’re lost forever. No ,I haven’t been taking too much cold medicine. It’s just that sometimes when I watch my Son I think about all the stuff I can remember and wonder about all the things I can’t. I probably should just be happy with the moment at hand and call it good. Yeah, that sounds about right.
Luke and I are heading out for a walk on this beautiful July day and we’re going to try to hit up some fireworks tonight if we both seem up to it. Life is good.
I hope everybody has a great day and dodges those flying blue birdies.

Barry J

Week 15: Eat 1 cup of cooked whole grains each day this week.

Barry J.
Good afternoon. I’m getting to the blog a little late today because I had customer service orientation this morning at 8:00am, and after that Luke and I hung out with Mimi (aka Mom) for a couple of hours. I’ll tell you what, this company seems like it’s going to be a lot of fun. And who likes fun more than me? Well Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, and Sacha Baron Cohen sure seem to portray that they like to have a good time, but I would love to give them all a run for their money. Allllllll righty then.
I woke up, stretched, did my thirty crunches, twenty-five push-ups, looked in the mirror told myself life is good and the world is great and headed for the kitchen to make up some oatmeal with Adams peanut butter. I inhaled that with a cup of hazelnut coffee, then sliced up an apple threw it into a zip lock bag with some grapes, grabbed a banana and went to the meeting.
Last night my friend Teddy (the one with the four daughters) and a couple of his friends (I believe they’re my friends as well now) went out for dinner to celebrate getting our jobs. We went to this place that has a killer lobster special. Now I haven’t had lobster in a while and the way they prepared it was totally not on the Fit School health plan. Let’s just say the way it was described on the special board had the words, “butter” and “poached” on it as in “poached in butter”. Did I feel bad eating it? Not one bit. It wasn’t like I had three of them. It wasn’t like it was fifty bucks, but I swear they could get that much for it if they asked. The way I look at it, life is not only good but full of flavor and to deny yourself rewards is not only a life wasted, it’s a life not tasted. Wow am I deep or what? (insert or what here) I think they call that justification in certain circles. Whatever.
When I got home I went for a forty-five minute walk in the beautiful spring night thinking to myself as I strolled along, “Man Life is good and lobster still tastes great.”
I hope everybody has a great day and Jasper learns how to leave a comment.
Later,
Barry J
